PaperPull is owned and operated by Tobias Edwards. These Terms govern your use of the PaperPull website and research-extraction service. By accepting these Terms or using PaperPull, you agree to them.
1. The service
PaperPull uses AI models to extract user-defined information from research papers and organize it into structured datasets. PaperPull is an experimental beta service. It may change, contain errors, experience interruptions, or become unavailable at any time.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms. You must provide accurate account information, protect access to your account and connected services, and accept responsibility for activity performed through your account.
3. Your documents and instructions
You retain any rights you hold in the documents, instructions, configurations, and other material you submit. You grant PaperPull a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, reproduce, transmit, and process that material only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and support the service.
You represent that you have the rights and authorization necessary to upload and process your documents. Uploading a paper to PaperPull does not grant you any additional rights in that paper.
4. Prohibited sensitive information
You must not submit:
- Non-public information that identifies or could reasonably identify a patient or research participant.
- Protected health information or non-public medical records.
- Government identifiers or financial and account credentials.
- Confidential or restricted institutional or commercial data.
- Information subject to legal, ethical, contractual, or security requirements that PaperPull and its providers are not authorized to satisfy.
Published author details, ordinary bibliographic information, and aggregated or properly de-identified research data are not prohibited by this section. We may delete prohibited material and suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect individuals, PaperPull, or its providers.
5. Research responsibility and AI output
AI-generated extractions may be incomplete, inaccurate, misleading, or unsuitable for your research. You are solely responsible for checking every output against its source, applying appropriate research methods and quality controls, and deciding whether to use, publish, or distribute an output.
PaperPull does not provide medical, legal, statistical, research, or other professional advice and does not replace independent professional judgment.
6. Third-party services and charges
PaperPull relies on services operated by OpenAI, Cloudflare, OpenRouter, AI model providers, and Resend. Your use of those services may also be governed by their terms and privacy policies.
If you connect OpenRouter, you are solely responsible for charges incurred through your OpenRouter account. PaperPull does not control model availability, provider routing, pricing, retention practices, or third-party performance.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use PaperPull to:
- Violate applicable law or another person’s rights.
- Circumvent access, usage, billing, or security restrictions.
- Probe, disrupt, overload, or damage the service.
- Introduce malicious code or deceptive instructions.
- Misrepresent unreviewed AI output as verified research data.
- Resell or provide automated access to PaperPull without permission.
8. PaperPull intellectual property
PaperPull’s source code may be made available under the license identified in its GitHub repository. That software license does not grant rights to the PaperPull name, logo, branding, or website content unless expressly stated.
9. Privacy
The PaperPull Privacy Notice describes how information is handled and forms part of these Terms.
10. Suspension, termination, and deletion
We may limit or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect the service, its users, or third parties; investigate misuse; or comply with legal obligations. You may stop using PaperPull, delete individual jobs and configurations, or delete your PaperPull account at any time.
11. No warranties or guarantees
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PAPERPULL IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH NO REPRESENTATIONS, WARRANTIES, CONDITIONS, OR GUARANTEES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE. THIS INCLUDES NO GUARANTEE OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, SECURITY, AVAILABILITY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR FITNESS FOR ANY RESEARCH, PUBLICATION, REGULATORY, OR PROFESSIONAL USE.
12. Exclusion and limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOBIAS EDWARDS AND PAPERPULL WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, LOSSES, COSTS, CLAIMS, OR LIABILITIES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO PAPERPULL, YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE IT, AI OUTPUTS, LOST OR DISCLOSED DATA, RESEARCH OR PUBLICATION CONSEQUENCES, THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, OR PROVIDER CHARGES, WHETHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE, AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY.
IF A LIABILITY CANNOT LAWFULLY BE EXCLUDED, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF TOBIAS EDWARDS AND PAPERPULL WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID DIRECTLY TO PAPERPULL FOR THE SERVICE DURING THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. PAPERPULL DOES NOT CURRENTLY CHARGE A SERVICE FEE, SO THAT AMOUNT MAY BE ZERO.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits a liability or legal right that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms as PaperPull develops. Material changes will be identified by a revised effective date and, where appropriate, communicated to registered users. You may be required to accept revised Terms before starting another extraction.
14. Governing law and courts
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of- law principles. Subject to any mandatory rights that apply where you live, the state and federal courts located in Minnesota will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or PaperPull.
