Privacy Notice

Effective July 31, 2026

PaperPull is owned and operated by Tobias Edwards (“PaperPull,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This notice explains how PaperPull handles information when you visit the website or use the research-extraction service.

Information we collect

Account information

When you sign in, PaperPull receives the email address you provide and creates an account for that address. Your password is stored as a one-way hash and is not available to PaperPull in readable form. We may use your email for transactional service messages. We also record the version and date of the Terms you accept.

Research content

PaperPull receives your extraction configurations and instructions, job names, PDF filenames, text extracted from the PDFs you select, extracted results, model-usage information, and processing errors. PDF text is extracted in your browser. PaperPull does not intentionally upload or store the original PDF file, but temporarily stores its extracted text while processing the document.

OpenRouter connection information

If you connect OpenRouter, PaperPull stores your OpenRouter user identifier and an encrypted API credential. The credential is not displayed in the application and is removed when you disconnect OpenRouter or delete your PaperPull account.

Technical information

PaperPull and its hosting providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, request timestamps, security records, and similar technical information needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Communications

If you contact us, we retain the information you provide. PaperPull also uses your email address for transactional messages such as extraction-completion notifications.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Authenticate users and provide the service.
  • Process research papers according to user instructions.
  • Save configurations, jobs, and extraction results.
  • Send service-related notifications.
  • Prevent abuse and enforce usage limits.
  • Maintain security and diagnose failures.
  • Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

PaperPull does not sell personal information, use research content for advertising, or use uploaded study text or extraction results to train AI models.

AI processing and service providers

PaperPull sends extracted study text, filenames, and extraction instructions to OpenRouter, which routes the request to the selected AI model provider. PaperPull requests routing only to model endpoints that OpenRouter identifies as not collecting submitted prompt data. OpenRouter and the selected model provider nevertheless operate under their own terms and privacy practices.

PaperPull also relies on:

  • OpenAI for Sites hosting and related platform services.
  • Cloudflare for database and temporary text storage.
  • OpenRouter and selected model providers for AI processing.
  • Resend for transactional email delivery.

These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling of information is also governed by their respective privacy notices and contractual commitments.

Storage and retention

  • Original PDF files are read in the browser and are not intentionally retained by PaperPull.
  • Extracted PDF text is stored temporarily and deleted after processing reaches a final success or failure.
  • An unused draft job and its temporary text are deleted after seven days.
  • Completed jobs and their results are retained for up to three years after completion.
  • Configurations are retained for up to three years after their most recent update.
  • OpenRouter credentials are retained until you disconnect the account, delete your PaperPull account, or ask us to remove them.

You can delete individual jobs and configurations from the workspace. Deleting your PaperPull account removes its jobs, configurations, extraction results, temporary text, connection credentials, and account-specific usage records. Limited security or legal records may be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, resolve disputes, or protect the service.

Cookies

PaperPull uses cookies or similar technologies required for authentication, security, and the temporary OpenRouter connection flow. PaperPull does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party behavioral analytics.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or obtain a copy of your personal information. You can delete jobs and configurations in the workspace, disconnect OpenRouter from Settings, or delete your PaperPull account from Settings. You may also submit a verified request by emailing tobiasgedwards99@gmail.com.

Sensitive and confidential information

PaperPull is not designed to process non-public identifiable patient or research-participant data, protected health information, government identifiers, financial or account credentials, confidential institutional or commercial records, or other information requiring heightened legal or contractual safeguards. Do not upload such material. Published bibliographic information and aggregated or properly de-identified research data are allowed.

Security

PaperPull uses reasonable technical measures intended to protect stored information, including access controls, private storage, and encryption of OpenRouter credentials. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Children

PaperPull is intended for researchers and is not directed to anyone under 18 years old.

Changes and contact

We may update this notice as PaperPull develops. Material changes will be identified by a revised effective date and, where appropriate, communicated to registered users.

Questions and privacy requests may be sent to tobiasgedwards99@gmail.com.
